Making a Difference
Programs & Initiatives
Illegal Net Removal Initiative
To support sustainable fisheries management by removing illegal fishing nets, protecting aquatic biodiversity, and ensuring compliance with fisheries regulations.
This initiative focuses on identifying and removing illegal fishing nets that threaten fish populations, particularly during breeding seasons. Working alongside local fishing communities and regulatory authorities, the program aims to restore natural aquatic habitats and promote responsible fishing practices across the Padma River basin.
Community-Based Aquaculture Training Program
Empowering coastal communities through hands-on training in sustainable aquaculture practices, water quality management, and climate-resilient farming techniques.
This training program brings together local fish farmers, researchers, and extension workers to share best practices in sustainable aquaculture. Participants learn about integrated fish farming, feed management, disease control, and adaptive strategies for climate change impacts on aquatic food production systems.
Mangrove Restoration & Coastal Biodiversity Survey
Conducting comprehensive biodiversity surveys and mangrove restoration activities to protect the critical ecosystem of the Sundarbans coastal region.
This field-based initiative involves systematic biodiversity assessment of flora and fauna in the Sundarbans mangrove forest, one of the world's largest mangrove ecosystems. The program combines ecological research with community-based restoration efforts to support the long-term health and resilience of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
